Every hand is a winner, you have to put things together to win in life just like how you put dominoes together to win the game was the message from the Vice President of the National Association of Domino Bodies Mr Humbert Davis to the boys from the Metcalfe Street Secure Juvenile Remand Centre.
Speaking at the seven-day transformational workshop conducted at the Centre under the theme Leading the Way through Unity and Fair Play Mr. Davis focused on teaching life lessons through dominoes.
“How you put things together determines if you win or lose just like a game of dominoes, and not just putting things together but the order in which you play each piece makes a big difference. In life the order in which you play impacts you forever so at your age I want you to put your education in place because knowledge and information changes you,” he stated
Mr Davis further went on to share what he believed was the most important lesson for all the boys. “If you don’t remember anything else I want you to remember every hand is a winner. What others play will influence you but you still have to play your game. In life, we can all win and what others do will influence you, but run your race because you can all win.”
The seven-day session ended in an exciting domino competition that saw block three beating block four by 4 points to win the championship. The teams were awarded domino tables, dominoes and exercise books for back to school courtesy of the National Association of Domino Bodies.
