Ten drivers from the Department of Correctional Services successfully completed the Defensive Driving Course at the Grennells Driving School.
In an award ceremony held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, the drivers were recognized for their outstanding performance.
Guest speaker for the event Deputy Commissioner of Police Calvin Allen encouraged the awardees to maximize on the knowledge they have garnered. “This is an opportunity for you to be better drivers and to pass on the knowledge to your fellow drivers. Be responsible, accountable and mature in the execution of your duties. You are not just in charge of a Department of Correctional Services vehicle; you are in charge of the life of others and the resources of the Government of Jamaica. Drive carefully and treat the vehicle like your own.”
The batch consists of drivers from the Transport Centre, Richmond Farm Adult Correctional Centre, Metcalfe Street Secure Remand Centre, Tamarind Farm Adult Correctional Centre, and the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre. The batch consists of eight males and two females.
